When Children’s Drawings Come to Life

What if a child’s drawing could suddenly start swimming?

That’s exactly what the Psaroneis App does.

Developed for CRETAquarium, this interactive application transforms a simple coloring activity into a magical underwater experience using Augmented Reality.

From Paper to Living 3D Characters

The idea is simple… but the result feels like magic.

Children color their favorite sea creatures on paper. Then, using a smartphone or tablet, they scan the page and instantly see their creation come alive in 3D, moving in a digital underwater world.

Fish swim. Octopuses move. Colors stay exactly as the child painted them.

It’s like turning a coloring book into a tiny animated ocean.

A New Kind of Learning Experience

The Psaroneis App is not just fun. It blends creativity with technology in a way that makes learning feel natural.

Kids interact with animated 3D characters

They explore movement, color, and behavior

They experience cause and effect in real time

They engage with marine life in a playful way

And honestly… they don’t even realize they’re learning.

The combination of sound, animation, and interaction creates a full sensory experience that goes far beyond traditional educational tools.

Designed and Built by Fourthedesign

The Psaroneis App was designed and developed by Fourthedesign , a creative studio based in Crete specializing in VR, AR and interactive application development .

For this project, Fourthedesign handled the complete digital production process, including application design, Augmented Reality development, 3D character creation, animation, and interactive user experience design.

Draw – Scan – Interact – Play

The experience follows a simple loop:

Draw your sea creature

Scan it with the device

Watch it come alive

Interact and play

And here’s the fun part… you can add multiple drawings at once and create your own little underwater world right in front of you.

Bringing Innovation into the Aquarium Experience

The Psaroneis App is part of a broader vision to make visits to CRETAquarium more interactive, engaging, and memorable.

Instead of just observing marine life, visitors can now create it.

It turns passive learning into active exploration.

And let’s be honest… kids love it because it feels like a game, not a lesson.

A Small Idea with a Big Impact

At its core, Psaroneis is about one thing:

Turning imagination into experience.

A simple drawing becomes a living character.
A screen becomes a window into the ocean.
And a visit becomes something kids remember.
